Turn blog posts into narrated video summaries with n8n and Zvid

Turn the newest post in your RSS feed into a narrated vertical video summary. The workflow reads the article, writes a short script, adds timed captions and stock footage, and returns an MP4 for review.

Copy, then paste directly onto your n8n canvas (Ctrl/Cmd + V) — or import the downloaded file via Workflow menu → Import from file.

How it works

Tutorial and resources

  1. Check the blog RSS feed manually or daily at 9am and select its newest eligible post. This is a newest-post check, not a complete queue.
  2. Fetch the article page, falling back to its feed excerpt when necessary, and ask OpenRouter for a summary grounded in that text.
  3. Generate narration and timing data with ElevenLabs. Find illustrative stock clips; points without a suitable clip use a text-slide layout.
  4. Upload the narration, build the project, and validate it. dryRun: true saves an editor draft and credit quote but still uses the upstream writing and speech services.
  5. With dryRun: false, render and poll the saved job. After completion, open Watch video → Binary → data → View. Review the MP4 and publish it through your normal process with a link to the original article.

Set up steps

  1. Install @zvid/n8n-nodes-zvid from Settings → Community nodes before configuring Zvid credentials. A workspace owner/admin may need to install it.
  2. Import the workflow JSON from this page and keep the schedule inactive while setting it up.
  3. Create a Zvid API credential using a key from app.zvid.io/api-keys and Base URL https://api.zvid.io. Select it on every Zvid node.
  4. Set feedUrl to your blog’s RSS feed and configure brandName, colors, voiceId and ctaText in Config. Connect an OpenRouter credential to Write script and ElevenLabs Header Auth named xi-api-key to Generate voiceover. Use the Zvid API credential for Upload voiceover. That multipart upload uses HTTP Request because the published Zvid node does not expose file uploads. Keep the daily schedule inactive during setup.
  5. The download ships with dryRun: false, so a full execution renders and spends Zvid credits. Use dryRun: true for an editor draft and quote. OpenRouter and ElevenLabs can still charge during this preview path.
  6. Test one item, review the result, then check the trigger and workflow timezone before activating the schedule. Follow the complete blog tutorial for screenshots, sample inputs, limitations and troubleshooting.
